Last month the real work started. The Waveney Volunteers for Nature (WVfN) held a day to clear some of the grass for the hay meadows. While it was quite chilly, it was a great way to exercise in the open air.
Later The Conservation Volunteers carried out the heavy work. A digger was used to dig the area for the Miyawaki forest to a depth of 1.4m and turn it over. Mycorrhizal fungi will be added when planting and the area covered with woodchip as a mulch.
The next WVfN volunteer day is 26 January starting from 10am to 2pm when we will be further clearing the grass. Again, all tools are supplied.

In keeping with our use of what3words ///sport.refusals.haggis, 'X' marks the spot for the footbridge access.
Please wear suitable clothing and bring a drink and a snack. Be aware that there is no parking on the site, it is managed for nature and not humans. However there is ample free parking in Harleston.
If you would like to join the volunteers please get in touch, we would love to build up a local team.
