Harleston Greenspace CIC is up and running. We are discussing an agreement to manage the site at Rushall Road, and our planning application is registered on the South Norfolk Council planning portal. Please add your support: https://tinyurl.com/ourgreenplan. Every positive comment will help.

We held a meeting with representatives from the environmental groups involved in the project to discuss ideas in more detail and have submitted our full application for funding to South Norfolk Council. The successful applicants will be announced at the beginning of September.

Our plans include a new Miyawaki mini forest in the area near the exiting mature trees to the east of the field. A Miyawaki forest involves densely planting a variety of native tree and shrub species, often on a plot the size of a tennis court, into carefully prepared, enriched soil. This method is designed to mimic natural forest growth processes, encouraging trees to compete for resources and results in faster, stronger, and more biodiverse forests compared to traditional planting methods.

We will be looking at more funding opportunities and various sponsorship packages to help manage the field. One idea is adopting or sponsoring trees in a what 3 words parcel of land. Would you be interested in taking part?

There will be a display of the proposals in the Swift Bar of the Swan Hotel during Heritage Open Days from 12-21 September, showing the journey of Nature Recovery in Harleston from a concept in the Neighbourhood Plan to our green space community project. Please pop along and say hello. This is a project for everyone.
