Our sponsors came along on Saturday 11 April to plant the final tree in their w3w Miyawaki forest square. We used a special spade which was previously used by the late Queen Mother in planting a tree at the Recreation Ground. Photos of the day can be found on our website.
We look forward to a series of guided walks and nature recording sessions. Here are some dates for your diary
An introduction to wildlife recording
Saturday 30 May, 10am to 1pm
Join us and Norfolk Wildlife Trust at The Swan Hotel for a hands-on introduction to wildlife recording, and discover how to start building a picture of the animals and plants living locally to you.
During this friendly and practical adult workshop, we’ll explore:
Simple ways to spot and identify wildlife
Useful tools and resources, from field guides to easy-to-use apps
Where to send your sightings so they contribute to local and national conservation efforts
Following the indoor session, we will head outdoors to Magpies Meadow for a relaxed, guided walk where you can try your hand at bird, wildflower, and butterfly recording and learn how you can help record wildlife at our very special green space.
Putting Wildlife on the Map at Magpies Meadow
Saturday 13 June, 9am to 4pm
Join us and Norfolk Wildlife Trust as we try and see as many different animals and plants as we can in Magpies Meadow in seven hours. From moths to butterflies, dragonflies to birds, wildflowers to trees, we will be recording it all. Experts will be on hand to lead guided walks and help us with identifying what we find.
